Senior Interior Designer | Chagrin Falls, OH

Sector: High-end and Classical Residential

Working Style: Hybrid - one day in office per week and job site visits when needed

Responsibilities

  • Designing and presenting concepts, selections and final presentations to Director of Interior Design for review.
  • Presenting to clients when the Director of Interior Design is not available to do so.
  • Maintaining and updating the project schedules and ensuring that all project deliverables and benchmarks are met on time and to the firm’s standard of excellence.
  • Assisting the Director of Interior Design in ensuring that client expectations and budgets are met.
  • Specifying and sourcing materials, lighting, hardware, appliances, fixtures, furniture and accessories for projects. Inputting information into schedules and specification packages.
  • Designing and overseeing custom millwork and furniture pieces.
  • Creating graphics and visual presentations. Creating drawings, 2D and 3Drenderings, furniture layouts and visual proposals including all FF&E.
  • Creating project documentation, including assisting architects with interior construction sets and drawing interior sketches. Interior construction and millwork detail understanding is required.
  • Working closely and communicating with the Director of Interior Design and reporting project status weekly.
  • Attending regular site visits at key stages. Attending and contributing to weekly coordination calls with contractors, architects, and installers.
  • Communicating with vendors and subcontractors, coordinating with general contractors on site during the build-out phase.
  • Assisting or leading FF&E installs.
  • Updating and maintaining material library and scheduling and coordinating vendor meetings.
  • Researching and refining design details, including architectural and millwork
  • components, as well as finish, hardware, and other schedules.
  • Mentoring Mid-level and Junior Designers

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years professional experience.
  • Previous experience in high-end residential is a must.
  • Excellent presentation skills including generation of presentations and articulating design information to clients.
  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills and ability to work in a team environment. Must be comfortable presenting ideas, guiding clients, and leading discussions with contractors and vendors.
  • Self-motivated and ability to multi-task in fast-paced, dynamic and creative environment.
  • Highly Organized & Detail-Oriented. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Creative & Strategic Thinker. Ability to balance design vision with practical execution.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a “can-do” attitude.
  • High personal values and ethics, with the ability to take responsibility and set high expectations for self and team.
  • Basic knowledge of current building codes and ADA requirements.
  • Knowledge of national and online showrooms and resources, luxury vendors and furniture producers, as well as industry trends.
  • Proficiency in writing specifications and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior designers.
  • Knowledge of design history and historical styles and the ability to design within varying aesthetics constraints.
