Job Description

Overview:

A leading organization in the manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental Engineer to spearhead environmental programs and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role plays a critical part in designing, implementing, and improving processes that drive environmental sustainability while aligning with corporate goals. The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for evaluating environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This full time position is located in Clackamas, OR.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee environmental programs, applying engineering principles to enhance workplace safety and sustainability.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws, regulations, and standards, assessing their impact on business operations.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data related to air, land, and water pollutants, recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Provide strategic guidance to leadership on environmental objectives and corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Represent the company in regulatory hearings, community engagements, and industry-related meetings.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental compliance reports, including permit renewals, wastewater discharge reports, hazardous waste surveys, and toxic release inventory reports.
  • Collaborate with external partners on energy efficiency and pollution reduction initiatives, ensuring effective implementation and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular environmental compliance audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Lead and participate in corrective actions, environmental training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain environmental policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with OSHA, DEQ, DOT, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Oversee waste management programs, hazardous material handling, and recycling efforts to promote sustainability.
  • Work with internal teams to provide environmental training and ensure compliance with spill prevention and hazard communication regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in an environmental engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and ability to interpret and apply them to business operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • This position requires regular on-site presence due to the nature of its responsibilities.
  • Occasional weekend work and minimal travel may be required.
