Monday-Friday. Hours may vary depending on demand. Position Term (Number of Months Worked per Academic Year): 12 months Pay Grade/Classification: 12 Working Conditions: This position requires light to medium work. Recruiter must travel a distance in order to visit schools, special interest groups, or attend fairs/community events. Some overnight travel is required. Attendance at some evening and weekend events also required. Outside exposure is possible during tours and recruitment events. Physical Duties: Lifting and pulling is necessary in transporting boxes of recruitment materials into schools, fairs, and events. Basic Statement of Responsibilities Responsible for recruitment efforts within the service region defined by the Coordinator of Student Recruitment and Director of Public Relations and Marketing, in addition to serving as the primary school liaison for high schools served in this region. Essential Functions

  1. Works closely with the Coordinator of Student Recruitment in implementing a comprehensive student recruitment plan for the College.
  2. Communicates with prospective students from assigned territory to ensure a high level of enrollment from new students each semester, e.g., phone calls, emails, text, messages, mailers.
  3. Visits high schools and their students and counselors to provide information regarding educational opportunities, both credit and non-credit, available at Allegany College of Maryland.
  4. Works with the Coordinator of Student Recruitment to attend off-campus student recruitment opportunities, such as college fairs and community events.
  5. Seeks opportunities for increasing overall enrollment and promotion of the College's programs and services.
  6. Implements group visitations for students, guidance counselors, & other special interest groups, and coordinates other recruitment type activities.
  7. Helps develop concepts and implementation of new recruitment presentations, publications, and videos.
  8. Hosts presentations with information about the college at territory high schools, on ACM's campus for visitors, virtually for information sessions, and at community events.
  9. Stays informed of enrollment trends and explores opportunities to increase student interest from defined territory.
  10. Serves as contact person for schools and special interest groups who desire to make campus visits and/or schedule recruitment visits to their respective locations.
  11. Meets and communicates individually with students, as necessary, providing a more personalized approach.
  12. Serves as a first-line contact with secondary schools in the development of interest in articulation, reciprocity, and off-campus offerings in the assigned recruitment territory.
  13. Assists the Coordinator of Student Recruitment with the Early College Awareness Program activities and ACM Ambassador Program.
  14. Organizes guidance counselor appreciation luncheons.
  15. Assists in coordinating College open house event(s) and serves as a member of the planning committee(s).
  16. Provides recommendations for engaging prospective students on social media and appears in social media videos and posts.
  17. Works in the College Welcome Center during summer months and various periods throughout the academic year.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Recruitment and Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills Bachelor's degree; excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Overall knowledge of the college, its programs, and its services, as well as knowledge of course offerings and events in order to provide beneficial and accurate information to prospective students. Experience in a Windows-based environment. Comfortable utilizing presentation tools and relevant technology. Typing and data entry skills with database/spreadsheet experience. Excellent proofreading ability. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Creative/Out-of-the-box mindset encouraged. Ability to maintain information confidentially. Must be positive and outgoing; articulate and comfortable speaking to large diverse groups.
