Company Overview:
Advanced Liquid Cooling Technologies Inc. (ALCT), an affiliate of the Airsys group, is a pioneer in developing cutting-edge liquid cooling solutions for data centers and high-performance computing environments. Our innovative products are designed to meet the demanding needs of cloud service providers, data center operators, and other industry leaders. We are seeking an Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer to join the team.
Job Summary:
As an Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer at ALCT, you will play a critical role in advancing our metal 3D printing technology for innovative heat exchanger designs using a specific branded 3D printer platform.
Your responsibilities will encompass machine functionality optimization, part quality analysis, print file preparation and generation, and providing Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) recommendations to ensure optimal performance and manufacturability. You will own projects from concept to delivery, working closely with customers to transform designs into fully printed, tested, and validated products. You will also develop a deep understanding of our autonomous printing factory and leverage your technical expertise to enhance system capabilities using a first-principles engineering approach. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with and learn from industry leaders and pioneers in metal additive manufacturing, while playing a key role in disrupting the industry through the development of our autonomous printing factory technology.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop a thorough understanding of the printing system's capabilities and technology roadmap, collaborating with internal engineering teams to further automate and optimize the printing process for high-volume production.
• Manage all stages of print production development, including DfAM feedback, file preparation, printing, postprocessing, and quality control.
• Analyze in-situ process data and post-print part quality to drive continuous improvement in part accuracy, consistency, and mechanical performance.
• Apply first-principles thinking to understand technical challenges, design test methods, evaluate potential solutions, and provide well-supported technical recommendations to both internal teams and external customers.
• Document and maintain application requirements, project objectives, statements of work, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and action plans to ensure all internal and external stakeholders are aligned.
• Act as a technical liaison with external customers, effectively communicating ALCT's technical capabilities and collaborating to improve customer designs for additive manufacturing (DfAM).
• Contribute to ALCT’s internal technology roadmap by incorporating feedback from both internal operations and external customers, identifying areas for design and systems-level enhancements.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
• Hands-on experience in mechanical design, testing, and 3D printer operation.
• Experience managing the full hardware development lifecycle, including hand calculations, CAD design, fabrication, and testing.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, with a first-principles approach to technical problemsolving. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with metal 3D printing processes, particularly DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) or LPBF (Laser Powder Bed Fusion).
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong academic track record.
• Passion for additive manufacturing and innovative cooling technologies.
• A scrappy, first-principles mindset with a proactive approach to tackling complex challenges.
• Strong team-oriented mindset and positive attitude.
• Detail-oriented with excellent verbal, visual, and technical communication skills.
• Process development experience in metal additive manufacturing.
• Experience working with both internal teams and external customers.
• Experience designing mechanical systems, particularly those related to thermal management or fluid systems.
• Passion in startup for long term achievement is desired.
